Poor kid! This adorable doggo needs your help to find a loving forever home. Leo the pure breed pharaoh hound has had to go through some hardships in his life, including losing his sight and being abandoned. Facebook page Innocent Paws shared his story all while trying to find a home for this sweet little guy.
“My heart is in million pieces,” Maria D’Amato form Innocent Paws starts off. “Abandonment after abandonment. Over time, we have met with all kinds of dogs, pure breeds or not, being discarded like rubbish, found in dire situations while some, were in critical conditions abandoned mercilessly!” she says of all the unfortunate dogs she’s crossed paths with.
“This is Leo, a pure breed pharaoh hound is blind,” she says, introducing the adorable pup. “Leo is such a sweetheart!!!! Regardless of his eyesight and the fact that he never met me before he remained calm and gentle!”
Leo’s story
“Around two weeks ago, some people contacted us that a pharaoh hound was spotted running on the main road looking lost and confused between cars and nearly getting run over 3 times!! Fortunately, he was rescued and caught by Animal Welfare last week. He was later admitted to hospital where it was confirmed that he is totally blind and slightly anaemic. Only God knows how many days he had been running loose and searching for food and water.”
“When a dog is abandoned or lost, running in Malta's roads is already very dangerous, let alone being a blind dog like Leo! Yesterday I went to meet Leo; he is around 2-3 yrs old, super GENTLE and has a very CALM nature, amazing LOVING BOY,” she shared.
“Leo's blindness does not bother him, he can live a normal life, we assumed that he was born this way and this makes it more easier for him. He’s a very smart and clean, he waits for someone to open up so he can do his toilet needs outside!”
“Yesterday afternoon he had another medical follow up which we shall be updating shortly however, fingers crossed all is ok! From here I would like to give a BIG THANK YOU to Animal Welfare for their amazing job at rescuing Leo!”
Here’ how you can help!
“Leo's rescue has not yet reached its end, he is being kept alone in a pen which is very depressing for a blind dog,” Maria said. “Leo is looking for his happily every after, and he needs to feel the warmth, safety and security of a loving family, something he had never ever experienced before!” All you need to do to help is share is story and if you know of anyone who is willing to welcome him into your home, all the better! “This sweet boy certainly deserves it!”
