The Malta Society of Arts (MSA) is gearing up for an exciting autumn filled with a diverse array of visual arts, concerts, workshops, and cultural events at its historic venue, Palazzo de La Salle in Valletta.

This vibrant season promises to enrich the local arts scene, featuring five visual arts exhibitions, 20 concerts, and various workshops and seminars, as well as the much-anticipated return of arts, crafts, and music courses.

Kicking off in October is the debut solo exhibition ‘Paradise Lost’ by Jade Zammit. This exhibition showcases a collection of thought-provoking pieces that explore themes of vulnerability and nostalgia through a mix of styles and media.

Jade Zammit, who draws on her architectural background, initially embraced minimalism in her work but has evolved to a more instinctual and expressive style using acrylics, oils, and embroidery. ‘This collection offers a space for reflection and dreaming, allowing viewers to confront their own interpretations of paradise,’ she shares.

In addition to visual arts, MSA's Performing Arts Programme offers a captivating lineup, beginning with the concert ‘Crackle & Memory’, which delves into personal memories through experimental sound. Artistic Director Kurt Buttigieg, alongside Yasmin Kuymizakis, will present their archival works, followed by the concert ‘You Are The Instrument’, featuring sound artist Dafne’s techno-infused soundscape.

The Contempo strand will showcase a tribute to the Great American Songbook with ‘Last Night When We Were Young’, a musical dialogue between guitar and piano performed by Sandro Zerafa and Vincent Bourgeyx.

Other notable performances include concerts for Notte Bianca and the French Embassy’s ‘Eclats de Musique’ featuring Tricia Dawn Williams.

As the season progresses, the MSA will launch its popular courses in visual and performing arts, catering to all ages and skill levels. It will also celebrate the achievements of 25 diploma candidates during the London College of Music Graduation Ceremony on October 10.

With more exhibitions and events slated for November and December, including Joseph Farrugia’s solo exhibition and the prestigious Gold Medal Award ceremony, Adrian Mamo, MSA President, expresses enthusiasm for the ambitious program. ‘We aim to inspire creativity and bring the community together while providing platforms for both emerging and established artists,’ he states.

The MSA looks forward to welcoming locals and visitors alike to Palazzo de La Salle this autumn, where culture and creativity flourish.
