The highly anticipated MICHELIN Guide Malta 2025 has just been launched, and it comes with an exciting new addition! Le GV Rooftop Restaurant in Sliema, which is part of the 1926 Collection and opened only last August, has already earned its first MICHELIN star. Led by renowned Chef Andrew Borg, who previously earned a MICHELIN star at ION Harbour Restaurant in Valletta, alongside second executive chef David Tanti, Le GV’s exceptional culinary excellence has quickly been recognised.

The guide features 43 restaurants situated all around Malta and Gozo, 1 of which has been awarded two MICHELIN stars, 6 of which have been awarded one MICHELIN Star and 5 of which have been awarded a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand. The remaining 31 restaurants are a part of the MICHELIN Guide Malta 2025.

MICHELIN Stars are awarded to the best restaurants around the world, with a single restaurant being capable of receiving anywhere from one to three stars at one time. This honour remains bestowed upon an establishment for a year, after which point inspectors re-assess the restaurants.

The Bib Gourmand, while not quite a star, is still an extremely prestigious title. Such an honour recognises friendly establishments that serve good food at moderate prices.

ION Harbour by Simon Rogan has held onto its two-star MICHELIN rating, having been the first Maltese restaurant to ever receive this prestigious recognition last year.

The other restaurants in the one-star category have successfully retained their spots from last year, including Fernandõ Gastrotheque (Sliema), Under Grain (Valletta), Noni (Valletta), De Mondion (Mdina), and Rosami (St Julian’s). Meanwhile, Bahia in Balzan has moved out of the one-star category but remains featured in the MICHELIN Guide.

Last year's MICHELIN Bib Gourmand restaurants have all retained their title. These are Grain Street (Valletta), Terrone (Birgu), Rubino (Valletta), Commando (Mellieha) and AYU (Gzira).

Three new additions have been made to the MICHELIN Guide Malta: The Seafood Market Grill (Gzira), Risette (Valletta) and La Pira (Valletta).

The remaining restaurants in the guide are as follows, with Kuya Asian Pub (St Julian's) losing its place on the guide:

  • The Golden Fork (Rabat)
  • The Harbour Club (Valletta)
  • Rebekah's (Mellieha)
