5 yummy summer recipes to make with local Maltese pomegranate
Little pods of flavour!

Nicole Parnis

Hooray! Pomegranate - or rummiena in Maltese - is finally in season! This superfood is incredibly good for you, and has been used as a medicine for thousands of years due to the amazing health benefits.

Firstly, pomegranate juice is extremely high in antioxidants which help to flush out free radicals in your system. It's great for your digestive health and is even known to prevent cancer, Alzheimer's disease and heart problems - WOW!  We'll be sprinkling pomegranate seeds all over our summer salads this season. Here are just a few other ways to make the most of this cool crop!

Who doesn't love halloumi? We know we do! The inclusion of fresh mint and pomegranate offset the saltines for layers of taste.
