10 fantastic new European destinations you can fly to DIRECT from Malta
Ryanair has just revealed 10 new European destinations that it will fly to as from next summer.

If you’re coming down with a serious case of post-summer blues (we know, summer’s not over yet, but STILL), one thing that will definitely help is looking ahead – it’s never too early to start planning next year’s summer holidays!

There’s lots of places to go, and as from next summer, Malta will be even more connected, thanks to 10 new European destinations that have just been announced by budget airline Ryanair.

Here are the 10 fantastic new destinations you can fly to, direct from Malta:

1. Cardiff, Wales

It’s the largest city in Wales, so it’s no surprise that Cardiff is known for spectacular shopping, museums, dining and entertainment.

2. Cork, Ireland

A university city centring on the River Lee, Cork is home to several attractions, including the Cork City Gaol which once held prisoners bound for Australia, and 18th-century Shandon Church.

3. Exeter, England

This gorgeous medieval city in Devon dates back to the Roman era, with the city walls surrounding its centre and the towering Gothic Exeter Cathedral.

4. Lamezia, Italy

Also known as Lamezia Terme, this city in southern Italy is basically the stuff Italian summer holiday dreams are made of. If you can tear yourself away from the sea, the Diocesan Museum, the Lametino Archaeological Museum and the Castello Normanno Svevo ruins are all worth visiting.

5. Luxembourg

If you had to describe this small European country in one word, it’d be gorgeous. Get lost in the Ardennes forest and nature parks, explore the rocky gorges of the Mullerthal region and don’t forget to hit the fortified medieval capital (sound familiar?), Luxembourg City.

6. Maastricht, Netherlands

Celebrated for its medieval architecture and vibrant cultural scene, this university city on the southern tip of the Netherlands looks like a dream, from its cobbled old town and Gothic church of Sint Janskerk, to the futuristic Bonnefanten art museum.

7. Nantes, France

Situated on the Loire River in the Upper Brittany region of western France, the beautiful Nantes is a historical port city and industrial centre. Make sure you pencil in a visit to the restored medieval Château des Ducs de Bretagne when you’re there – it’s where the Dukes of Brittany once lived!

8. Oslo, Norway

Norway’s capital city is celebrated for its green spaces and museums (rejoice!) Look out for the Norwegian Maritime Museum and the Viking Ship Museum when you’re there, and if you’re feeling adventurous, hit the Holmenkollbakken ski-jumping hill – it’s got panoramic views of the fjord.

9. Perugia, Italy

The capital of the Umbria region, Perugia is largely known for the defensive walls surrounding its historic centre, where you’ll find the medieval Priori, Gothic cathedral houses and the picturesque Fontana Maggiore – a marble fountain with carvings of biblical scenes and zodiac signs.

10. Thessaloniki, Greece

A new Greek destination on our radar, the port city of Thessaloniki is found on the Thermaic Gulf of the Aegean Sea. Apart from fantastic swimming spots, it’s rife with history – check out the Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman remains, particularly around Ano Poli, the upper town.
