Cable wakeboarding to take over Cospicua’s Dock No. 1 for four-day show!

Cospicua's historic Dock No. 1 will soon become a playground for some of the world's top cable wakeboarders later this month, as Malta prepares to host its first wake show of its kind.

Cable wakeboarding is similar to traditional wakeboarding except that riders are pulled across the water by an overhead cable rather than by boat.

Malta’s first Wake Show will take place from Thursday 29th October to Sunday 1st November.

A temporary cable park will be installed along Dock No 1’s canal, complete with ramps known as kickers and obstacles called sliders, from which riders can perform tricks.

Professional wakeboarders will take part in four days of competitions, live demonstrations and night-time wakeboarding sessions, while there will also be sessions for the general public.

Some of the world’s biggest names in wakeboarding, including five-time world champion Cory Teunissen and Spanish champion Martín Druille, will be present to show off their skills.

Besides wakeboarding,  visitors will also be able to enjoy music, food and drinks along the waterfront, with DJs providing entertainment into the evening.

The organisers have also suggested that the event could pave the way for the sport’s growth in Malta, with ambitions to establish a permanent cable wakeboarding park on the island.

More information about the event, including the programme and ticket updates, is available on the official Malta Wake Show website.
