78-year-old man dies after finding himself in difficulty while diving in Zurrieq

A 78-year-old Polish man has died after encountering difficulties while out on a dive this morning in Zurrieq.

Believed to have occurred around 10am, a Red Cross life saver jumped into the water and dragged the diver ashore where CPR was administered until the ambulance arrived.

Unfortunately the man was certified dead upon arrival at Mater Dei.

The locality is an infamous diving zone hosting the Um El Faroud shipwreck
